Maureen O'Hara Biography

Maureen O'Hara, an American actress and singer from Irish origin was a well-known celebrity. The fiery, passionate roles she played in a myriad of American films were admired by the green-eyed beauty who had flashing hair and fiery eyes. Her beauty and elegance were much appreciated. She was also known as the Queen Of Technicolor in Hollywood. Her characters onscreen reflected her own brave, strong spirit who was fighting for respect and survival in this male-dominated world. She was known as "the tough Irish lass" and she did not give up her respect for other people in order to be able to play the roles she was entitled by merit. In her time in the film industry, she always stood up against injustice and improper treatment against women actors and for this, she gained lots of admirers. Her autobiography, "Tis herself", released in 2004, gave an unflinching story of her entire life and the challenges she faced when she made her way up the ladder to achieve success. She was an adventurous woman who didn't hesitate to attempt her own stunts. She appeared as an actress in over 60 films over the years and was a pillar of fame internationally. After her departure from Parra and her husband, she got married to Charles F. Blair Jr. in the year 1968. Blair was a former brigadier and chief pilot and was the first transatlantic pilot to be a pioneer. O'Hara eventually retired after few years of marriage. Blair was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s happiness. In the same year she was also diagnosed as having uterine cancer . She had undergo surgery immediately. She was able to recover eventually. She was diagnosed with six heart attacks, short-term memory loss and type 2 diabetes over the next years. O'Hara, 95 years of age, died peacefully in Boise (Idaho) on 24 October 2015.
