Patricia Velásquez

Creativity is more than just film, photographs, and canvas. It could also serve as the catalyst to philanthropy and charity as well as activism. Award-winning model, actress, and history-making supermodel an uncompromising philanthropist, diligent activist author, mother of two. Patricia Velasquez applies an eternal imaginative spirit to everything she does. It could be acting in blockbuster movies like The Curse of La Llorona or launching the Wayuu Taya Foundation and participating in the UNESCO Board. She is a strong believer of intuition and a creator in her own direction. She says, "I see my career as a ladder." "I did every step. It was amazing to be able to do so, as there's been endurance. I never stopped moving, simply sat down. This metaphor is reminiscent of a formative experience. After a couple of years she relocated to Venezuela. She was born in Venezuela and grew up in France and Mexico. In South America her parents worked in education. They moved their family into an apartment block without water and no elevators. Patricia took 15 levels of stairs with heavy buckets in order to supply water to the area. She tried to help her family as much as possible despite pursuing engineering as well as pursuing a dance education. The opportunity to be a model in Milan and her ascent to the top of the fashion ladder was based on a promise made to her family and friends. She relates that she was requested to travel to Italy to model for the fashion industry. "If I could send thirty dollars a month back to Venezuela that would be worth it because that will cover all the water in the structure." Patricia's success marked an important moment in fashion when she brought the attention of the industry to South America. After being "the first Karl Lagerfeld model ever photographed", she went on to be featured in editorial spreads and front ads for Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana. She also appeared in Oprah's "Supermodel of the World Contest" with Ford Models. Not to mention, she graced the covers of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire, and many others.
